Investing in Maternal & Infant Health

According to the CDC, over 700 women die of pregnancy complications each year. Nearly two-thirds of these deaths are preventable. In the United States today maternal mortality rates are moving in the wrong direction, and disparities run rampant, with Black women being up to three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than White women.

What are the causes of the maternal and infant health crisis and how can they be remedied? How can we combat existing disparities? What can be done from a policy perspective to improve access to quality maternal and infant health care throughout the country?

The Hill will convene policymakers, physicians and community advocates for a comprehensive discussion on how to improve maternal and infant care across the country.
