Future of Cities Summit

US cities are diverse, dynamic, and constantly evolving. The COVID-19 pandemic sped up this evolution, pressure testing our infrastructure, economies, and collective strength. But with added challenges come increased opportunities to reshape our existing structures and build more sustainable cityscapes, enhancing economic stability and improving the lives of all residents, especially the most vulnerable.

With the passage of the infrastructure bill and the promises within the Build Back Better agenda, what comes next for America’s cities? How can city leaders work with communities to strengthen connections across cultures and generations, allowing all residents to prosper? And finally, as we envision the city of tomorrow, what pitfalls should we sidestep and what new heights can we expect to climb?

Thanks to the historic funding for public transportation in the $1.2 Trillion Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and long-term authorization of surface transportation programs, the public transportation industry is ready and eager to lead change. Public transportation now has the resources, the opportunity, and the obligation to help transform America’s cities, towns, and rural communities to a new, bold, and exciting future. We look forward to playing an essential role in the new future for America’s communities, and to making this a seminal, ground-breaking year.
