Conservative predicts Dem ‘propaganda war’ against Trump Supreme Court pick

Heritage Foundation senior fellow Hans von Spakovsky says Democrats will launch a “propaganda war” to block President Trump’s Supreme Court pick.

“I think there’s going to be a propaganda war like we have never seen before,” von Spakovsky told Hill TV’s Buck Sexton and Krystal Ball on “Rising.”

“If the president came out and said ‘I’m nominating Thomas Jefferson,’ the Democrats would object … All of these objections are coming up without them even knowing who the nominee is, and it’s because they are really worried about a consistent fifth conservative vote,” he continued.

“So I think there will be personal attacks like we’ve never seen before and we’ve got potentials like walkouts on the floor of the Senate to try to prevent a quorum from being there and things like that.”

Von Spakovsky’s remarks come as Trump prepares to announce his pick to replace retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy on Monday night.

The finalists on Trump’s list include Amy Coney BarrettThomas HardimanBrett Kavanaugh and Raymond Kethledge.

The stakes are high for both sides. Kennedy was a swing vote on many crucial cases, including on abortion and gay rights.

Axios reports that liberal group Demand Justice is planning to spend a minimum of $5 million to oppose Trump’s pick, and will team up with other groups such as Planned Parenthood, MoveOn.org, and NARAL.
