Full interview: Democratic candidate Kerri Evelyn Harris discusses her Senate campaign in Delaware

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s upset victory in a New York Democratic primary as an outspoken “socialist” has made progressive activists feel much better about their chances nationally. Kerri Evelyn Harris, who is fielding a primary challenge to Democratic Sen. Tom Carper in Delaware joined “Rising” on Tuesday to talk about her race and why she’s running.

“One of the things that I realized was regardless of what community I went to help them advocate for themselves, whether it was public housing or upper-middle class homes, everybody had the same problem,” Harris said. “They felt like they weren’t heard, they were worried about where our future was going, and representation just wasn’t fitting them.”
