As Democrats work to overcome their historic losses at the state and local levels, one politician who is attracting attention within the party is former Missouri secretary of state Jason Kander, who is now running to be mayor of Kansas City, Missouri.
He recently spoke with Hill.TV’s Jamal Simmons about how Democrats can better communicate their values in a way that is respectful of Americans who have drifted into the Republican party fold as they’ve felt less welcome in a Democratic party that has skewed toward residents of large metropolitan areas.
“Every single person deserves an opportunity to succeed no matter where they live and no matter how they grew up,” Kander told Simmons.
