Republican says Kavanaugh accusers had outside ‘help’

A senior GOP senator is accusing two women making sexual misconduct allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of having had outside help with their stories.

“They had a little help, I have a feeling,” Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) said in response to a question about whether he thought the two women, Christine Blasey Ford and Deborah Ramirez, were “making up” their stories.

Asked what he mean by “a little help,” Inhofe said, “Somebody — I don’t have any idea, that’s what we’re supposed to find out.”

Inhofe shot down the idea of an FBI investigation into the allegations as unwarranted.

“Accusations are being made about things that didn’t happen … guilty until proven innocent – that’s wrong,” Inhofe said.
