Pro-life advocate Kassy Dillon on Friday said that more pro-life supporters have begun to embrace the use of contraceptives as a way to prevent future abortions, despite the “religious element” that is against the use of birth control.
“There is that religious element there that doesn’t want contraceptives, but I do not think that’s the majority anymore,” Dillon, the founder of the Lone Conservative, an online platform for young conservatives, told Hill.TV’s Jamal Simmons and Buck Sexton on “Rising.”
“I know that many of the pro-life people there are in support of contraceptives because it does prevent an abortion that can happen in the future,” she continued. “So yes, I think that is starting to change, but I think there is the religious argument that is made often.”
Dillon’s comments come as thousands of pro-life advocates gather on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., for the 46th annual March for Life.
When pressed by Simmons on whether speakers at the rally would promote the use of contraceptives, as well as government programs such as SNAP [Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program] Dillon said she did not know what the speakers would discuss.
“I don’t know exactly what people are going to say, but if I were to give a speech in front of that stage, I would definitely say those things,” she said. “I would definitely point to the different health clinics, the pro-life health clinics, where they do provide not just making sure that people are having a safe pregnancy, but also things afterward like apartments, finding jobs, helping them feed their children.”
