Conservative editor Raheem Kassam said on Monday that the U.S. needs to recover from special counsel Robert Mueller’s nearly two-year investigation into Russia’s election interference, saying the probe left Americans divided.
“America needs to recover from the Mueller report right now,” Kassam, global editor-in-chief at Human Events, told Hill.TV’s Buck Sexton and Krystal Ball on “Rising.”
“It’s divided the country, and it didn’t do anything. If you think about it, it didn’t move the issue either way,” he continued. “The president comes out with no collusion, but not really no obstruction. Mueller, and the FBI, and the Democrats, and everybody who wanted him gone didn’t get anything out of this anyway.”
“All it did was serve to drive a massive wedge down the middle of the country,” he said.
House Judiciary Committee Democrats on Monday took a step toward holding Attorney General William Barr in contempt of Congress after Barr refused to hand over Mueller’s full report to Congress.
The development is the latest news in heightening tensions between the Justice Department and House Democrats.
Barr last week dropped out of a scheduled appearance before the committee after Democrats demanded committee lawyers be allowed to question the attorney general, which the Justice Department called “inappropriate.”
