Public opinion analyst predicts ‘higher level of voting’ in 2020

Public opinion analyst Karlyn Bowman predicted on Friday that there will be a higher level of voting on both sides in the 2020 presidential election.

“We certainly saw the energy on both sides in the last campaign, higher energy levels on the Democratic side, but still a higher level of voting, and I think we’re likely to see that again in 2020,” Bowman, a senior level fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, told Hill.TV’s Jamal Simmons on “What America’s Thinking.”

Democrats have used health care to move their voters to the polls, while President Trump has seen illegal immigration as a stimulus for his base.

Bowman said Trump, himself, could be a motivating factor for turning out Democrats in 2020.

“Right now, beating Trump is the most important thing for Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents,” she said.
