A Trump campaign official said Thursday the Democratic debates are an “infomercial” for President Trump’s 2020 reelection.
“If it’s anything like we saw last night, it’s going to be another two-hour informercial on behalf of the reelection of President Trump,” Marc Lotter, a director of strategic communications for President Trump’s 2020 campaign, told Hill.TV on “Rising.”
“So much so that the DNC should list it as an in-kind contribution to our campaign,” he said.
Ten out of the more than-two dozen candidates vying for the Democratic nomination took the stage Wednesday night in Miami, where they debated immigration, guns, climate change and Iran.
The inaugural debate marked a big night for Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), who came out of the event strong after she touted a number of her campaign proposals and reaffirmed her commitment to a Medicare for All.
Former San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro and Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii), meanwhile, emerged as among the biggest winners out of the long-shot candidates. Gabbard was the most-searched candidate of Wednesday night’s debate on GoogleTrends, despite going in as a relative unknown.
Thursday night’s debate includes a number of top-tier candidates like former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders. Other headliners include: Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) along with South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg.
They will be joined by Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calf.), tech entrepreneur Andrew Yang and author Marianne Williamson.
