Poll: Less than half of Democrats think Trump will finish first term

Less than half of Democrats think President Trump will finish his first term, according to a new Hill-HarrisX survey released on Friday.

The poll of 370 Democratic voters found 49 percent think Trump will leave office before the end of his first term, compared to 35 percent who think Trump will finish his full term.

Another 15 percent of Democrats said they weren’t sure.

Their Republican counterparts, which included 320 respondents, were understandably more optimistic about Trump’s chances of finishing his first term.

Eighty-nine percent of GOP voters said that the president would serve out the remainder of his term. Sixty percent of the 290 independent respondents said the same.

Overall, 65 percent of voters said it was likely that Trump would complete his first term, while 22 percent said it was unlikely.

The survey comes as House Democrats ramp-up their impeachment inquiry against the president.

Former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch testified on Capitol Hill Friday morning in a closed-door testimony before three House committees as part of the ongoing inquiry.

Yovanovitch, who was dismissed from her position in May, said she was ousted after a concerted effort against her.

The Hill-HarrisX poll was conducted online among 1,000 registered voters between Oct. 6 and Oct. 7. The margin of error for the full sample was plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.
