New Times media columnist Ben Smith on Thursday discussed how the Times and other legacy news outlets have been covering the sexual assault allegations brought forward by Tara Reade against former Vice President Joe Biden, which his campaign has vehemently denied.
“When a story kind of comes in from unconventional places, from people who don’t fit an easy media mold, there’s sort of a reflex in the legacy media to hold back a bit, to not cover it,” Smith told Hill.TV.
Smith added that while the Times – who recently released a lengthy investigative report into the allegations – is now on top of the story, it took its time and was careful in reporting its findings.
