Democratic NC Congressional candidate Davis expresses optimism about election

Air Force Col. Moe Davis, who won the Democratic primary earlier this year in North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District, told Hill.TV’s “Rising” Thursday that he believes he can flip the seat that previously belonged to now-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows.

In the general election, Davis will face Madison Cawthorn, a 24-year-old businessman who won the GOP runoff in June. Cawthorn defeated Lynda Bennett, who was backed by President Trump and Meadows.

“It’s the first time in about a decade that this district has been competitive,” Davis said. “We’ve got a real chance of winning this seat.”

Davis, who has worked as a national security aide in Congress, said Cawthorne has “no record” and his conservative views are out-of-touch with the district. He said people there are “tired of the chaos, they want some stability, some experience, some leadership, and a steady hand.”

“It’s a pretty package and I understand all the attention Mr. Hawthorne is getting, he’s a nice young man, he’s very charismatic, but he’s never had an adult job in his life,” Davis said. ”And to want to make being a member of Congress your first job is pretty ambitious.”
