Taibbi on why Biden is beating Trump

Rolling Stone contributing editor and author Matt Taibbi discussed former Vice President Joe Biden’s (D) apparent dominance in the polls against President Trump on Hill.TV’s “Rising” on Tuesday.

In an interview with co-hosts Saagar Enjeti and Krystal Ball, Taibbi reacted to a column from New York Times opinion writer Peter Beinart, who attributed the difference in performance between Biden and Trump’s 2016 opponent, Hillary Clinton (D), to sexism faced by Clinton.

“Certainly I think it plays a role, sexism probably played a significant role with Hillary Clinton, but that was also mixed with other factors,” Taibbi said.

“The thing I consistently heard from people on the trail about why they didn’t like Hillary Clinton is because she symbolized, for them, a Washington insider,” he continued. “And she was also running on that experience at a time when there were a lot of people in the country who saw that as a negative.”
