WaPo reporter gives breakdown of Senate Republicans’ relief bill

Washington Post reporter Jeffrey Stein broke down the Senate GOP’s coronavirus relief bill in an interview on Hill.TV Tuesday.

Stein, a White House economics reporter, said the Republican bill seeks to adjust unemployment funding to a wage replacement system, which would give applicants 70 percent of their prior earnings before they lost their job instead of a flat $600 per week unemployment boost.

“Not only are they proposing a dramatic cut to unemployment insurance, they’re also proposing a massive revamp of the unemployment system,” he said.
