‘Radical Hamilton’ author discusses progressive politics of founding father

“Radical Hamilton” author Christian Parenti discussed the progressive politics of founding father Alexander Hamilton with the hosts of Hill.Tv’s “Rising” on Wednesday.

Parenti, an associate professor at John Jay College, said that Hamilton advocated for government intervention in the economy when the U.S. was founded, so that it could build a strong government and strong military to prevent other countries from recolonizing.

“The great irony is that Hamilton, while seen as the patron saint of bankers, actually was very committed to using government policy to drive an economic transformation which in his time was away from … agriculture towards manufacturing,” he said.
