HuffPost reporter Daniel Maran discussed an investigation into allegations College Democrats made against progressive House candidate Alex Morse (D), the mayor of Holyoke, Mass., during an interview Thursday with Hill.TV’s “Rising.”
Maran discussed an article published by The Intercept Wednesday that reported the College Democrats had been discussing an operation to sink Morse’s congressional campaign as far back as last October, citing screenshots of chats.
The allegations against Morse first appeared last week in The Massachusetts Daily Collegian, the University of Massachusetts Amherst’s student newspaper. The paper wrote about a letter from the College Democrats of Massachusetts and other chapters alleging inappropriate behavior between Morse and students.
Morse issued a two-page statement on Sunday saying he did not abuse his power and the relationships were consensual.
The University of Massachusetts Amherst, where Morse was a lecturer for several years, said it was investigating whether any Title IX laws were violated.
