Democratic strategist doesn’t expect typical post-convention boost for Biden

Democratic strategist Jennifer Holdsworth said Thursday that she doesn’t expect think that Democratic nominee Joe Biden will receive the typical boost in support after the convention.

Holdsworth told Hill.TV’s “Rising” that the timing and the new format of the convention may mean not “all voters are paying attention.”

“While I think it’s been produced wonderfully and people like me are paying attention, I don’t necessarily know if it reaches the average voter in the same way that the normal convention does,” she said.

She highlighted that the convention is designed both as a “pageant” to show voters the party and a “rally” to encourage enthusiasm among voters.

Holdsworth noted that she believed former President Obama did well at balancing these goals with his speech.

“I think he did a good job, but again I just don’t think this convention is going to be enough to really move voters,” she added.
