Sirota: NY AG’s investigations signal ‘real political problem’ for Cuomo

David Sirota, founder of The Daily Poster, said that New York Attorney General Letitia James’s (D) investigations into Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-N.Y.) signal a “real political problem” for the governor.

Speaking on Hill.TV’s “Rising,” Sirota said that the investigations were a “signal” that politics in the state was changing.

James, who was an ally of Cuomo, is now investigating his handling of COVID-19 deaths in nursing homes, as well as allegations of sexual misconduct.

“It’s a signal that if she’s willing to hold him accountable or at least begin holding him accountable…that is a sign that politics in New York may be realigning.”

“A piece of the Democratic Party apparatus is realizing that being an ally of Andrew Cuomo is politically toxic to the Democratic Party and the Democratic Party establishment, itself.”

Sirota explained that the “Democratic establishment” is Cuomo’s base of support, and that losing some of that base could be troubling for Cuomo.

“If he loses a piece of that base, that really is a sign that he really is in danger, that he has a real Democratic Party on his hand.”
