Ohio congressional candidate Nina Turner (D) is touting a growing number of endorsements from unions and Democratic lawmakers for her House campaign.
Turner, a former Ohio state senator and co-chair of Sen. Bernie Sanders’s (I-Vt.) 2020 presidential campaign, told co-hosts Saagar Enjeti and Krystal Ball on Hill.TV’s “Rising” on Tuesday that the support from outside groups is evidence of her strength at building coalitions.
“I’ve been a coalition builder for a long time, and I know folks see me as fiery, and I am that, but I’m a multifaceted person just like anyone else,” said Turner, who is running in Ohio’s 11th District.
“But what people can see in the culmination of my endorsements, whether it’s the house of labor, SEIU…all my union sisters and brothers, I have been in the vineyard side by side with these people doing the work, and I am a coalition builder,” she continued, before speaking about her work with Ohio’s former Republican governor John Kasich.
Turner was recently endorsed for the seat vacated by Housing Secretary Marcia Fudge by the Congressional Progressive Caucus, as well as the two top Democrats in Ohio’s state Senate, Kenny Yuko and Sandra Williams.
