Reporter explains concerns around expanding Dixie Fire

Journalist Lily Jamali joined Hill TV’s “Rising” on Thursday to discuss the growing concerns around the Dixie wildfire in California.

The Dixie Fire started a couple of weeks ago, and according to state officials is now the sixth largest blaze in the state’s history, having burned 322,502 acres.

Jamali, a cohost of KQED’s “The California Report,” explained that the wildfire is of particular concern because it was started not far from where the 2018 Camp Fire began, which killed 85 people and displaced thousands more. That fire is considered the deadliest in state history.

“The concern among officials, has been making sure that the Dixie Fire does not re-enter or does not make it to Paradise [and do] additional damage because so many people in that town are just starting to rebuild the situation there is really delicate,” she said.
