Washington Post data analyst David Byler said in an interview that aired Thursday on Hill.TV’s “What America’s Thinking” that Democratic voters are split on some aspects of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as ObamaCare.
“Democrats are a little split,” Byler told Hill.TV’s Jamal Simmons on Wednesday. “Some really like the ACA, some think that it doesn’t go far enough. Maybe they wanted a public option or a single-payer the first time around.”
“They definitely don’t want ObamaCare to be gone, but at the same time, you see a little bit of the discontentment from some on the very left end registering here,” he said.
While polling shows ObamaCare enjoys widespread popularity, Democrats have acknowledged the need to improve former President Obama’s signature health care law.
Democratic presidential 2020 hopefuls have touted the idea of “Medicare for all” on the campaign trail, but there are disagreements on how that particular policy would look.
