Poll: Trump trails Biden by 4 points in new national survey

Less than 90 days before the November elections, President Trump is trailing former Vice President Joe Biden by 4 percentage points in a new Hill-HarrisX national poll.

Forty-four percent of registered voters in the August 8-11 survey said they’d vote for Biden if the election were held today.

By contrast, 40 percent of voters said they’d choose Trump at the ballot box.

Four percent of voters said they’d prefer someone else as their candidate for president, while another 4 percent of voters do not plan to vote.

Nine percent of voters remain unsure.

The survey was conducted just before presumptive Democratic nominee Biden chose his vice presidential candidate, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA).

Biden and Harris are set to officially accept the nomination at next week’s Democratic convention.

The Hill-HarrisX poll was conducted online among 2,828 registered voters between Aug. 8 and 11. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 1.84 percentage points.
