Over 6 in 10 voters think the Biden administration will do a good job of handling the economic recession, a new Hill-HarrisX poll finds.
Sixty-two percent of registered voters in the Jan. 21-22 survey said they think President Biden and his team will do a good job handling the economic crisis.
By contrast, 38 percent of respondents said the opposite.
Of those surveyed who identified as Democrats, 93 percent said they think Biden will handle the economic downturn well along with 62 percent of those who identified as independents.
By contract, 70 percent of Republicans said they think Biden will do a bad job.
The survey comes as new data released Thursday from the Commerce Department found the country’s economy shrank 3.5 percent in 2020 as the ongoing economic fallout of the coronavirus pandemic continues.
The most recent Hill-HarrisX poll was conducted online among 941 registered voters. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.19 percentage points.
