Poll: 61 percent say Fauci has been truthful to the best of his knowledge on COVID-19 origins

Roughly 6 in 10 voters say President Biden’s chief medical adviser Anthony Fauci has been truthful to the best of his knowledge regarding the origins of COVID-19, a new Hill-HarrisX poll finds.

Sixty-one percent of registered voters in the June 17-19 survey said Fauci was truthful to the public concerning how the coronavirus pandemic began.

By contrast, 39 percent of respondents said the country’s leading infectious disease expert has misled the public.

The survey found a majority of Republican voters and those who cast their ballots for former President Trump in 2020 said Fauci misled the public, at 66 percent and 70 percent, respectively.

The majority of Democratic respondents and Biden voters said Fauci has been truthful, at 84 percent and 87 percent, respectively.

Sixty percent of independents said they thought Fauci has been truthful concerning the origins of COVID-19.

The survey comes as Fauci has become a growing source of vitriol from conservative lawmakers and media.

The most recent Hill-HarrisX poll was conducted online among 942 registered voters. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.19 percentage points.
