Clinton: ‘No knowledge’ of FBI investigation timeline

Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton late Saturday said she is not aware of a timeline in the federal investigation into her private email server while secretary of State.

During a brief interview on MSNBC, Clinton said she was “eager” to speak to authorities and “pleased to have the opportunity” to assist the Justice Department.

Clinton would not say, however, if she has been told whether or not charges would be filed against her.

{mosads}“I am not going to comment on the process,” she told Chuck Todd, just hours after she was interviewed by the FBI.

“I have no knowledge of any timeline,” she said. “This is entirely up to the department.”

Clinton reiterated that she never sent or received material marked classified on her private server.

“I’m going to continue to put forth my record,” she said. “What I have stood for and do everything I can to earn the trust of the voters of our country.”

Clinton also said she learned about a meeting between her husband, former President Bill Clinton, and Attorney General Loretta Lynch at the Phoenix airport earlier this week “in the news.”

She described it as a “short chance meeting” that was “purely social.”

“Obviously no one wants to see any untoward conclusions drawn,” Clinton added. “They said they wouldn’t do it again.”

Clinton’s campaign said earlier in the day that she “gave a voluntary interview” to the FBI about her “email arrangements” while leading the State Department.

“She is pleased to have had the opportunity to assist the Department of Justice in bringing this review to a conclusion,” a spokesman said in a brief statement. “Out of respect for the investigative process, she will not comment further on her interview.”

Clinton’s likely general election opponent, Republican Donald Trump, tweeted late Saturday that “sources” had announced she would not face charges.

“Like I said, the system is totally rigged!” he added.

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, meanwhile, called Clinton’s FBI interview “unprecedented.”

“That the FBI wanted her for questioning reinforces her central role in deliberately creating a culture which put her own political ambitions above State Department rules and jeopardized our national security,” he said in a statement.
