O’Reilly: Hillary Clinton should be doing ‘visible charitable work’

Fox News host Bill O’Reilly said in a recent interview that former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton should be doing “visible charitable work” during her time off the public stage. 

“If I were advising Hillary Clinton, I would suggest that she redefine the Clinton Foundation and then travel the world doing visible charitable work,” O’Reilly told The Hollywood Reporter in March for a profile that was published Thursday. “I would point to Jimmy Carter as a role model.” 

 

Clinton has all but ruled out returning to the Clinton Foundation, three sources close to the former nominee told The Hill last week. 

{mosads}The 69-year-old former secretary of State indicated to confidants and associates that she more than likely won’t be returning to the family foundation, which drew headlines in the 2016 election cycle for possible conflicts of interest. 

O’Reilly’s comments came before an April 1 New York Times report of payoffs to five women who accused the Fox News host of sexual harassment or inappropriate conduct. The host has denied any wrongdoing. 

The settlements have turned into a PR crisis for O’Reilly and Fox News, which saw its longtime chairman Roger Ailes leave the network last year under a cloud of sexual harassment claims.

The reported payouts have prompted more than 60 advertisers to pull spots from “The O’Reilly Factor.” 

Fox News indicated this week that ads have been moved to other programs on the network.

O’Reilly started a vacation today reportedly to Italy and Vatican City, the New York Times reported.

It was reported in March that Clinton is considering a run for New York City mayor.

A Quinnipiac University poll from January showed that Clinton would beat current New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) if she ran as an independent.
