Trump vents about ‘Fox & Friends,’ Varney
Former President Trump issued a scathing rebuke of Fox News’s flagship morning talk program and one of its leading hosts Wednesday night.
Trump, the front-runner for the GOP presidential nomination, said Fox News gives too much time to his rival GOP candidates. He also appeared to reference Steve Doocy, one of the hosts of “Fox & Friends.”
“I watched Fox & Friends this morning, and it is totally unrecognizable,” Trump wrote Tuesday on his Truth Social website.
“All they do is ‘gush’ over job seeking candidates that are 50 Points, plus, down to your favorite President, or speak endlessly about people that will never run and, without cheating, could never win…And what ever happened to Steve? No wonder their ratings are way down. MAGA!”
Trump has for months ridiculed Fox, the top-watched cable news channel, over its coverage of him and accused the network of attempting to boost the candidacy of some of his leading GOP rivals.
Trump skipped the first GOP primary debate and has said he will not attend Wednesday’s.
The former president also took aim at Fox host Stuart Varney, who is co-moderating Wednesday’s debate, in a separate Truth Social post Tuesday.
“Did Stuart Varney of Fox Business, who is hosting the upcoming ‘Job Application,’ ever apologize for probably purposely mixing up my Poll numbers with Ron DeSanctimonious, making it look like he was winning, when in fact he is being CRUSHED,” he wrote.
It is unclear which poll Trump was referring to, but the former president has on more than one occasion criticized Fox’s coverage of his poll numbers.
Earlier this year, he attacked his former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany, who is now a host on the network, after she spoke about polling in Iowa, which she said showed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis “closing the gap” on the former president.
