Toyota recalls over 750K Highlanders due to faulty front bumpers

Toyota is recalling more than 750,000 of its Highlander model due to faulty tabs securing the front bumper.

The recall covers certain Highlanders from 2020 to 2023 model years including hybrid versions of the vehicle, the Associated Press reported.

The front lower bumper covers are connected with mounting tabs. The company said if there’s even minor impact to the bumper assembly, the tabs could detach and parts could fall into the road and become a hazard.

Toyota said it will notify owners by late December, but owners can check to see if their car is affected by going to nhtsa.gov/recalls and entering their information.

Dealers will inspect the bumper cover tabs for damage. If there isn’t any, they will install improve hardware to hold the covers. If damage is found, dealers will replace the bumper covers and add the improved hardware, the AP reported.

The company’s filing was not available Friday afternoon on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which publishes details about safety recalls.
