House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) said Tuesday he’s optimistic Democrats can capitalize on the uniquely inefficient GOP-led Congress going into the November election by highlighting GOP “chaos and dysfunction and extremism.”

In an interview on Super Tuesday with MSNBC’s Chris Hayes, Jeffries said he hopes to paint a clear contrast this November between the Democrats’ legislative achievements while in the majority and what Jeffries described as “a do-nothing Republican Congress” that hasn’t delivered.

Asked about reports that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), the longest-serving Senate leader in U.S. history, said this Congress was the worst he has ever seen, Jeffries said he was optimistic he could get Americans to pay attention.

“I do think it’ll be an important part of this campaign, because you can establish a clear contrast: you have a do-nothing Republican Congress that has delivered no meaningful progress for the American people,” Jeffries said.

“Instead, it’s been chaos and dysfunction and extremism. And that compares to the track record of accomplishment under the leadership of President Biden, a historic Congress, in the previous two years prior to this Congress … where we got things done,” Jeffries said, highlighting Biden’s work bringing clean water to communities, capping the price of insulin and increasing jobs in the U.S.

Jeffries said that in addition to highlighting Biden’s “extraordinary track record of accomplishment,” Democrats will “also make clear that moving forward, President Biden has a vision for making life even better for the American people over the next four years.”
