President Biden and Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will hold a joint press conference Wednesday afternoon following a bilateral meeting between the close allies.
In comments earlier in the day, Biden praised Kishida and described the relationship between the U.S. and Japan as “unbreakable.”
Japan was quick to rally to Ukraine’s side following the Russian invasion, enacting sanctions and providing humanitarian aid.
According to The Associated Press, in just the last few years relations between Japan and South Korea, two key U.S. partners in East Asia, have improved as those nations face shared challenges from China and North Korea.
The event is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. EDT.
