House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-L.a.) on Sunday discussed the urgency of passing a support package for Israel, stating that Congress was “going to try again this week” to move a package forward.

“We’re going to try again this week, and the details of that package are being put together. Right now, we’re looking at the options and all these supplemental issues,” Johnson told Fox News host Maria Bartiromo on Sunday Morning Futures when asked about the package.

Bartiromo asked Johnson if he considered former President Trump’s proposal to turn aid for Ukraine into a loan.

“I had a great visit with him [Trump] on Friday. And he and I are 100% united on these big agenda items… I think these are ideas that I think can get consensus, and that’s what we’ve been working through,” Johnson said.

Johnson also discussed the Biden administration’s response to Iran’s attacks on Israel.

“What’s important right now is that we stand with Israel; we should not be dictating to them what their policy is… They’re fighting for their very existence, and it’s never been more important for us to be there with them. And we’re resolved to do that. I hope that continues to be understood,” Johnson said.
