Moskowitz slams Greene: ‘We won’t even let her name a post office. We’re not going to let her take out the Speaker’

Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.) said Sunday that he thinks Democrats would be inclined to save Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) from a potential ouster threat if Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) forces a vote on his removal.

In an interview on MSNBC’s “The Weekend,” Moskowitz reiterated that Democrats would ultimately take their cue from House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) and took multiple shots at the Georgia congresswoman.

“I mean, look, obviously we’ll wait for our Leader Jeffries to figure out that solution,” Moskowitz said. “But I’ve said this before, and I think there are other members who feel the same way: The idea of allowing Marjorie Taylor Greene, someone who literally, you know, would let the world burn, you know, with her isolationist foreign policy, who has talked about states seceding from the union, right?”

“The idea of letting her sit in the people’s house, in the well of Congress, giving a speech, removing any Speaker and having that powerful moment. There is just no way Democrats are going to let her do that. I’m not going to let her do that,” he continued.

“We won’t even let her name a post office. We’re not going to let her take out the Speaker,” Moskowitz said.

President Biden signed a $95 billion emergency funding package this past week that includes $61 billion for Ukraine, $15 billion in military aid for Israel, $9 billion in humanitarian aid for Gaza and other war-torn areas and $8 billion in security assistance to deter Chinese aggression in the Indo-Pacific. Johnson moved forward with the legislation, despite threats from Greene to force a vote on his ouster.

The Hill has reached out to Greene’s office for a response.
