Watch live: House Democrats give remarks as scrutiny mounts over Trump agenda

House Democratic leaders are set to hold a press conference Thursday afternoon as criticism mounts over President Trump’s efforts to overhaul the federal government.

Democrats have recently pushed back against Trump’s moves to reform immigration policy and the military, proposals to annex other regions — including Greenland, Canada, the Panama Canal and most recently Gaza — and the Department of Government Efficiency’s moves to overhaul the federal government, from the purge of FBI agents to the perceived dismantling of the U.S. Agency for International Development and potential abolishment of the Education Department, among other things.

They are now seeking to use a looming government shutdown as a speed bump to block Republicans from passing the president’s most controversial agenda items.

The press conference is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. EST.
