Alexander Vindman to publish memoir about being a witness in Trump impeachment

The former National Security Council staffer who testified against President Trump during his impeachment proceedings early this year is planning to publish a memoir, according to a new report.

Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman has struck a deal with publishing company HarperCollins to write a book titled “Here, Right Matters: An American Story” that is slated to be published early next year, according to the Associated Press.

Vindman was fired from the NSC after testifying that he was concerned after listening in on a phone call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Vindman’s testimony was the central claim House Democrats pinned their articles of impeachment against Trump on: That Trump had used the power of his office to pressure the leader of a foreign government to dig up dirt on a political rival.

Vindman served as the White House expert on Ukraine at the time of the call.

Trump was eventually acquitted by the Senate on two counts, one of obstruction of Congress and another of abuse of power.

“My family and I have had an extraordinary outpouring of support from people around the globe,” Vindman said in a statement to the AP. “My hope is to offer my story as an affirmation that the American dream is alive and worth continuing to fight for.”

Other witnesses who testified for Democrats against Trump have struck book deals of their own.
