Watch live: White House holds briefing amid trade, Ukraine talks

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt will brief reporters Friday afternoon, a day after President Trump announced the first major trade deal following last month’s sweeping tariff announcement.

Trump unveiled an agreement Thursday between the U.S. and United Kingdom, as global and domestic markets continue to reel from the administration’s rollout of tariffs. On Thursday, the president suggested that “many” more deals were in the works.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is expected to meet with Chinese officials in Switzerland over the weekend, as the White House has signaled it could lower import taxes on Beijing — currently facing 145 percent tariffs on goods imported to the U.S.

The briefing also comes ahead of the president’s trip to the Middle East next week and as the Trump administration continues to aid in ceasefire talks between Russia and Ukraine.

The event is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. EDT.
