WH: Obama stands by tan suit

President Obama “feels pretty good” about his decision to wear a tan suit to a presidential press conference, press secretary Josh Earnest said Friday.

{mosads}”The president stands squarely behind his decision he made yesterday to wear his summer suit,” Earnest said at the opening of his daily press briefing with reporters.

The press secretary said he had considered also wearing a tan-colored outfit on Friday but decided it might be “too much.”

Commentary on the president’s sartorial choices dominated social media during the press conference, which came just ahead of the Labor Day holiday.

Most declared the move a fashion mistake.

But MSNBC host Joe Scarborough told Earnest during an interview Friday morning he supported the choice.

“They’re Yankees. They just don’t get it. That’s what you wear right before Labor Day,” Scarborough said.

Rep. John Dingell (D-Mich.) tweeted in support of the suit.
