Trump camp: Major appointments coming Tuesday

President-elect Donald Trump’s spokesman Jason Miller said there are “very exciting announcements” coming Tuesday about Cabinet positions and a top administration official. 

{mosads}Vice President-elect Mike Pence also said Monday that there will be “a number of very important announcements” on Tuesday, according to pool reports.

“Not only will we have, first thing tomorrow morning, we’ll have one Cabinet-level pick as well as another top administration official,” Miller said on Fox News’s “The Kelly File.” “I think we’re going to have a second Cabinet-level pick coming tomorrow as well.

“As the president-elect reaches his decision and he’s picked some really excellent people for his Cabinet, then we’re going to go and get those out.”

When asked if one of the announcements would include Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.) as Health and Human Services secretary, Miller demurred, saying: “Stay tuned.”

Multiple news outlets reported Monday night that Trump has selected the Georgia Republican for that role and the announcement could come as soon as Tuesday. Price, the Budget Committee chairman and a former orthopedic surgeon, has been a vocal opponent of ObamaCare.

Trump repeatedly vowed to repeal and replace President Obama’s signature healthcare law while campaigning, though he has recently signaled an openness to keeping certain parts of the law intact. 

Miller said he wouldn’t expect an announcement on Tuesday about Trump’s pick for secretary of State. Trump’s inner circle has been feuding over who should fill the post of the top U.S. diplomat, with many of his closest allies voicing concerns about having 2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney, who has met with Trump about the post, in the position. 

Trump is meeting with Romney for dinner Tuesday night and also meeting with Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), who was an early backer of the businessman. Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and retired Gen. David Petraeus, a former CIA director, are also being considered for the job.
