Trump gave direct order to remove Flynn’s son from transition: report

The son of Donald Trump’s incoming national security adviser was asked to leave his transition team on a direct order from the president-elect, CNN’s Jake Tapper reported Tuesday.

Michael Flynn Jr., the son of former Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, in recent days had publicly embraced a conspiracy theory that a Washington pizza place is a front for a child abuse ring run by Democrats. 

{mosads}Trump spokesman Jason Miller told reporters Tuesday that Flynn Jr. is “no longer involved in transition efforts” but did not provide further details. 

Flynn Jr. had been helping his father with “administration and scheduling duties,” Miller said. 

Tapper reported in an interview with Vice President-elect Mike Pence Tuesday that the transition team applied for security clearance for Flynn Jr. before his dismissal. 

Pence avoided questions about why that would be necessary, saying “I think that’s the appropriate decision for us to move forward and avoid further distraction.” 

The Flynns have become embroiled in the controversy over the conspiracy theory, nicknamed “Pizzagate,” after an armed man walked into the Comet Ping Pong pizza place in Washington on Sunday, telling police he wanted to investigate claims that top Democrats including former presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and her campaign chairman, John Podesta, were involved in a child abuse ring.
