Rep. Ryan Zinke (R-Mont.) is being considered as Interior secretary in President-elect Donald Trump’s administration, according to a Bloomberg report.
Zinke met with the president-elect at Trump Tower on Monday.
“President-elect Donald Trump and I had a very positive meeting where we discussed a wide range of Montana priorities,” Zinke told a Montana newspaper after the Monday meeting.
{mosads}The congressman, who just won reelection to a second term in Congress and has said he might run for the Senate in 2018, sits on the House Committee on Natural Resources. If nominated for the position and confirmed, Zinke would be responsible for managing federal lands and energy resources.
Zinke, the first Navy SEAL to serve in Congress, endorsed Trump for the Republican nomination in May.
Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) is also reportedly under consideration for the position.
