Trump runs through busy early days in first weekly address

President Trump on Saturday released his first weekly address, saying in the video that his administration has “hit the ground running,” but there is “much work to do in the days ahead.”

Trump listed off several of the executive actions he signed during the first week of his presidency, including the directive to federal agencies to begin building the wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.

“Everyday we are fulfilling the promise we made to the American people,” Trump said in his address.

And he referenced his executive actions on immigration, including the cutting of federal funding to so-called “sanctuary cities.”

“They are not safe. We have to take care of that horrible situation,” said Trump.

Trump mentioned the United States’ withdrawal from the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) in addition to his meetings with manufacturers, in which Trump said he urged them to stop off-shoring jobs.

“This administration has hit the ground running at a record pace. Everybody’s talking about it,” Trump said. “We’re doing it with speed and we’re doing it with intelligence. And we will never ever stop fighting on behalf of the American people.”
