Pence confident Gorsuch will be confirmed to by Senate
Vice President Mike Pence said Sunday that he is confident that President Trump’s nominee to the Supreme Court, Judge Neil Gorsuch, will be confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
“Neil Gorsuch belongs on the United States Supreme Court,” Pence said on “Fox News Sunday. “
“No associate justice to the Supreme Court in American history has ever faced a successful filibuster. And Neil Gorsuch should not be the first,” he added.
“That’s why the president and I both made it clear that, one way or another, Judge Gorsuch will get an up or down vote on the floor of the Senate. And we’re confident he will be confirmed as the newest associate justice to the Supreme Court.”
{mosads}Pence also dismissed comments by Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) that Gorsuch deserves more scrutiny in light of Trump’s criticism of a federal judge who temporarily halted his travel ban.
“Frankly, I just think it shows how Sen. Schumer is going to react to anything to try and continue to obstruct the nomination of Judge Gorsuch to the Supreme Court,” Pence said.
