Report: Katrina Pierson turned down top White House job

Katrina Pierson, a spokeswoman for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, was reportedly offered a top White House role, but turned down the position.

White House press secretary Sean Spicer told The Daily Beast he offered Pierson the job of deputy press secretary.

“She accepted and I was excited to have her on the team,” Spicer said in an email to The Daily Beast. “She ultimately decided to pursue another role on the Trump Team.”

{mosads}Pierson told the publication she made a “personal decision to remain on the outside for now.”

“I have plenty of time to serve,” she added.

Pierson instead decided to become a part of a nonprofit launched earlier this year by Trump’s political allies.

The group — America First Policies — includes a handful of prominent Trump campaign veterans. It looks to capitalize on the grassroots support that led Trump to the Oval Office and support his agenda from outside the White House.

During the presidential campaign, Pierson often appeared in TV interviews to defend Trump and his comments.

Spicer told The Daily Beast that Pierson did a “great job on the campaign and we were excited to have her [as] part of the press team.”

The role of deputy press secretary ultimately went to Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
