MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow teases Trump tax returns

MSNBC host Rachel Maddow tweeted that the network will be revealing President Trump’s tax returns on Tuesday night.

“We’ve got Trump tax returns,” Maddow tweeted. “(Seriously.)”

{mosads}Maddow later tweeted that she has Trump’s 1040 form from 2005. It is unclear from Maddow’s post how the network obtained the documents.

MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell tweeted that following Maddow’s 9 p.m. Eastern show, she will join him on “The Last Word.” O’Donnell called it “the night we’ve been waiting for.”

Trump’s biographer David Cay Johnston tweeted that he would be joining the shows to break the news.

Trump is the first president in decades to not publicly release his tax returns.

Trump has previously said he would not release them while he is being audited by the IRS, but the IRS has noted that an audit would not prevent anyone from releasing the information on their own.

Democrats have been calling for the returns, which Trump’s critics believe may show suspect financial ties, particularly to Russia.
