Hundreds of people gathered outside of Ivanka Trump’s home in Washington, D.C., for a protest on “climate justice.”
The LGBTQ activists showed up Saturday night outside the Kalorama home to hold a “dance party” protest.
The event was meant to “send the clear message that our climate and our communities matter,” according to a Facebook page for the protest titled “Queer Dance Party for Climate Justice at Ivanka Trump’s House!”
{mosads}The Facebook page pointed to a wide-ranging executive order signed last week to start the process of rolling back former President Barack Obama’s aggressive climate change agenda. The Trump administration promised its action would create jobs in the fossil fuel industry.
The page for the event also pointed to the president’s proposed funding cuts to the Environmental Protection Agency, and charged that the administration is “essentially halting the Federal progress the US has made in slowing the pace of climate change and on promoting clean energy.”
“The entire Trump Administration has shown a blatant disregard for our planet and it’s inhabitants, like paving the way for the Dakota Access Pipeline displacing the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe,” the Facebook page says.
