Kushner to meet with Senate Intel staff: reports

President Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner plans on meeting with Senate Intelligence Committee staff this month, according to multiple reports.

NBC News reporter Kasie Hunt first broke the news Thursday night. Two Congressional sources told NBC News that Kushner intends to meet with staff in mid-June on the condition that he submit documents and answer questions from the senators themselves at a later time.

A source familiar with the matter on Thursday confirmed the meeting to CNN, adding it is unclear when Kushner would meet panel members, though top committee member Sen. Angus King (I-Maine) told CNN’s Anderson Cooper that the meeting was scheduled for next week.

The news comes just hours after former FBI Directer James Comey’s bombshell testimony before the same committee.

Reuters in May reported that Kushner had at least three previously undisclosed contacts with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak during and after Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.

Shortly after, The Washington Post reported that Kushner spoke with Kislyak early last December about establishing a private communications line between the Kremlin and Trump’s transition team.

Kushner reportedly inquired about using Russian diplomatic facilities for the communications to shield the talks, U.S. officials briefed on intelligence reports told The Post.

Kushner’s attorney last month said that his client would cooperate on any probes of his past meetings with Russians and Trump said he has “total confidence” in Kushner following the reports.
