President Trump’s tweet of an altered video showing him tackling CNN at a wrestling match is his most retweeted post yet.
The Sunday post has been retweeted more than 340,000 times.
A Twitter spokesman told The Associated Press the tweet targeting CNN was the president’s most shared post.
In the video, which was taken from Trump’s appearance at WWE’s Wrestlemania in 2007, Trump is seen tackling and then pummeling a man with CNN’s logo superimposed over his face.
{mosads}Trump faced backlash for his tweet going after CNN, with some journalists and lawmakers saying the president appeared to be promoting violence against the media.
CNN responded to the tweet Sunday, calling it a “sad day” when the president encourages violence against reporters.
“Instead of preparing for his overseas trip, his first meeting with Vladimir Putin, dealing with North Korea and working on his healthcare bill, he is instead involved in juvenile behavior far below the dignity of his office. We will keep doing our jobs. He should start doing his,” the network said in a statement.
Trump in recent weeks has continued to escalate his attacks on the media, specifically going after CNN, which he has derided as “fake news.”
