Vice President Pence on Monday vowed that President Trump would one day move the U.S. Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.
“I promise you that the day will come when President Donald Trump moves the American Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem,” Pence said, according to CNN.
“It is not a question of if; it is only when.”
{mosads}The comments came during a keynote address at the Christians United for Israel summit in Washington.
During the event, Pence emphasized the United States’ commitment to Israel.
“Under President Donald Trump, if the world knows nothing else, then the world will know this: America stands with Israel, now and always,” Pence said.
Last month, Trump renewed a waiver that would temporarily keep the U.S. Embassy in Israel in Tel Aviv, instead of moving it to Jerusalem.
The White House said in a statement last month “no one should consider this step to be in any way a retreat from the president’s strong support for Israel.”
