Conway: ‘We’re going to force the message through’

Presidential counselor Kellyanne Conway in an interview late Saturday said the new White House communications director, Anthony Scaramucci, will help the Trump administration “force our message through.”

“People are saying [Scaramucci] is a street fighter. He’s also a self-made businessman, he’s a true American success story, as is Donald Trump. But he’s also someone who can run a ‘C Suite’ meeting,” Conway said on Fox News, referring to senior business executives.

“I think people are misreading this, that this is really to get somebody to defend the president,” she added of Scaramucci’s hiring. “We’re going to go out there and play offense.”

Conway also criticized the “hostile” news media, pointing to a poll that showed minimal coverage for topics important to the public.

“This White House, with Anthony Scaramucci’s help and the whole [communications] and press team together as one, we’re going to force the message through so that people stop talking about the nonsense, the garbage that doesn’t create a single job, that doesn’t release one bit of energy production, that doesn’t put ISIS in retreat and to show all the news, the incredible accomplishments this president has had in the first six months.”

{mosads}Conway also praised Sean Spicer, saying the outgoing White House press secretary has a “great communications mind.”

“Sean felt like it was the right time for him to leave, given the new hire. But the president wanted Sean to stay, and I think we should all be grateful for him.”

She also said newly announced press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will bring a “great perspective” from the podium.

“We’re also very excited that, I believe, the first mother ever, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, will take the podium and be our press secretary. I find that to be particularly gratifying that she’s a Republican and a conservative who’s going to do that first and foremost.”
