Ivanka Trump on Friday condemned sexual harassment in the workplace, telling an audience in Japan that such behavior “can never be tolerated.”
“All too often, our workplace culture fails to treat women with appropriate respect,” Trump, the elder daughter of President Trump who serves as a senior White House adviser, said at the World Assembly for Women in Tokyo.
“This takes many forms, including harassment, which can never be tolerated,” she continued.

The first daughter’s comments came amid a growing number of sexual harassment and assault allegations against high-profile figures in media, business and entertainment in the U.S., which have sparked a national debate over gender inequality and sexual harassment in the workplace.
Trump’s speech in Tokyo also comes ahead of her father’s planned trip to Japan and four other countries in East Asia starting Friday.
Trump is expected to speak with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe later about the president’s upcoming visit, according to AFP.
Abe, who was also speaking at the women’s summit on Friday, vowed to work to protect women’s rights, saying that “Japan has come a long way.”
“When women live up to their potential, many world issues can be solved,” Abe said, according to AFP.
